Real JourneymanTM Electricians Volunteer on Logansport Habitat Home

A group of future Real JourneymanTM (apprentice) electricians have volunteered significant amounts of their time and skilled labor to help complete the Habitat for Humanities home at 307 Barron Street in Logansport. Barb Spaulding, a 4th year apprentice with Fissel Electric of Logansport recruited many of her fellow 4th year apprentices, one 3rd year apprentice, a journeyman electrician, and several others to help. Working with her on this project were: Jeff Deere, a 4th year apprentice with Shambaugh & Son, Tony Hicks, a 4th year apprentice with Twin City Electric, Justin Hines, 4th year apprentice, Brandon Kelly, a 3rd year apprentice with Huston Electric, Darin Musselman, a 4th year apprentice with Long Electric, Wes Jenkins a 4th year apprentice with Huston Electric and Jeremie Pearson, a journeyman wireman with Shambaugh & Son. All electricians and apprentices donating work on this project are members of the IBEW local 668.

New homeowner Michelle Dardin did a significant amount of the work on the home as per the requirements of Habitat for Humanity. The building blocks that the house was laid on was constructed though the generous donated efforts of eight individuals from the Bricklayers Local 4. Construction coordinator was Logansport resident Ed Smith who works at the Logansport power plant as a member of AFSME local 339. Significant materials on this project were donated by the Logansport Do It Center and by Kirby Risk.

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (I.B.E.W.) Local Union No. 668 was formed in 1910 by a group of electricians in Lafayette, Indiana. Members of I.B.E.W. Local Union No. 668 are part of the more than 780,000 international members working in a variety of fields, including utilities, construction, telecommunications, broadcasting, manufacturing, railroads and government. In 2002 the local IBEW 668 began promoting their community service work under the Real JourneymanTM brand.
