Approximately
2,500 people are expected to take part in CFRC’s Christmas Day
dinner. But there weren’t nearly enough electrical outlets at
the CRFC to keep all that food warm. So journeyman wireman Daryl
Killian and 2nd year apprentice Jeff Pickering volunteered to
install the necessary extra wiring. Killian and Pickering are
each part of the Real Journeyman
TM electrician program sponsored
by the IBEW Local 668 and their signatory contractors through
their labor management cooperative committee (LMCC). The Real Journeyman
TM program was contacted by Ken McCammon, who is a
member of the CFRC Christmas Day Dinner Committee, and the electricians
were happy to volunteer the work.
Jon Huston of Huston Electric, a Real JourneymanTM contractor
donated materials and tools for the project. Additional materials
were provided cost-free by Randy Strong of the Central Supply
Company. There are many others helping to support this Christmas
Day effort. It all happens Christmas Day from 11am to 3pm
at the Community and Family Resource Center at 330 Fountain
Street in Lafayette. Those needing transportation or their
Christmas meal delivered may call the CFRC at 420-1647.
